Resilient Hearts

A Nature and Arts-Based Therapy Group for Girls ages 10-14

A Program For Kids to Slow Down, Increase Confidence, and Build Connection

Help your child learn emotional resilience, avenues of creative self-expression, and to build social connections with others, themselves, and the natural world. This program utilizes the beautiful and healing environment of Fauna Forest Farm in Jonesborough to host a creative an meaningful program for you child.

The world moves fast for our children. Sometimes faster than it seemed to move in our own childhood. The hyper speed of life can lead to unhealthy levels of comparison and loneliness. The fast pace also robs our kids of the ability to naturally reset during the day.

Our Resilient Hearts program will give you child an opportunity to slow down and to connect with nature, with peers, and with themselves.

Build Connection and Create Emotional Skills

This program is designed by one of our experienced nature-based therapists, Shea Keane, A-LPC/MHSP to use nature as a co-facilitator in teaching emotional insight and regulation, relationship skills, and self- expression.

Shae will help your child learn to slow down and notice how they connect with the world, themselves, and others. She’ll be the guide as the group learns through creative and hands-on activities how to reflect, connect, express themselves, and navigate big feelings.

The girls will join in educational activities, hands-on nature-centered practices, and expressive arts to learn the following and more:

Nature-Based Arts

We begin by gathering together, sharing, and setting a warm, welcoming tone for our time together.

Personal Security

Shae will lead the group in learning to reflect on emotional and physical needs and build the confidence to express them to others.

Gain Confidence

The group will use creative activities and self-reflection strategies specifically designed to increase personal confidence and a stronger sense of self.

Create Connection

All activities are designed to allow the participants to experience the power of connection and shared meaning with nature and others.

Build Community

Each meeting ends with intentional debriefing, group reflection, and strategies to carry newly learned skills outside of the group sessions.

What a 90 Minute Session Looks like

Each group follows a consistent structure designed to keep sessions focused, intentional, and generally helpful in your child’s treatment goals. Your child will:

FAQ

We hope you’ll find these answers to commonly asked questions helpful. Be sure to give us a call if you have other questions.

This group is designed for girls and non-binary tweens/teens ages 10-14.

We recommend dressing in comfortable layers that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Closed-toe shoes are a must for the farm environment. It’s also a good idea to bring a water bottle, snacks, and any personal care items you or your child might need (diapers, wipes, etc.).

We love all kinds of weather! We will meet in light rain and will provide guidance on how to dress. However, in the case of severe weather (like thunderstorms or extreme temperatures), the session will be canceled, and we will notify all participants with as much notice as possible.

We understand that life happens, especially with little ones! Because this is a closed-group series with limited spots, payment is for the series as a whole. We are unable to offer refunds for missed individual sessions.

No worries, we offer this program seasonally throughout the year. If you’d like to be notified of our next series beginning fill out this form and we’ll be sure to let you know!
